Dallas and Randall heading up the hog back to Lion Head

  • Trail: West Yellowstone MT – Lion Head – Continental Divide
  • Miles: 11.55
  • Ave mph: 3.1
  • Max 8.9 mph
  • Riders: Self – Dallas – Randall
  • Horses: J’Lo – (can’t remember the other names)
  • Dogs: No dogs – stayed in camp.

Notes: My week vacation in West Yellowstone combining trail riding and mounted shooting. I won both my shoots and moved up for a SL2 to an SL3 – bringing home 3 clean shooter checks and two match win checks. J’Lo did awesome.

Dallas, Randall and I loaded up early Friday morning and rode to the top of Lion Head. The trail meanders through alpine meadows and along the continental divide. The CD is directly in the center of a hog back all the way to the top of Lion Head. You can see the deep (very deep) gorges of the Gallitin Forest in Idaho on your left and the open, big sky country of Montana on your right. Dallas’s vertigo got the best of him but he was determined to take my picture near the edge – calling me Laurie Darl’in the mountain goat. We all had so much fun. I think it’s a memory Dallas will cherish forever – I know I will.
